What are common used of storage buildings?

How do I prepare my site for delivery of my portable storage building?

Preparing your site for the delivery of a portable storage building typically involves several important steps. Here’s a general guide to help you with the process:

1. Check regulations and permits: Before arranging for the delivery, check with your local authorities to ensure you comply with any regulations or permits required for placing a storage building on your property. This may include zoning restrictions, building permits, or homeowner association rules.

2. Measure the space: Measure the area where you plan to install the storage building to ensure it will fit properly. Consider the dimensions of the building, including width, length, and height, and add extra space around it for accessibility and any future maintenance requirements.

3. Clear the delivery path: Clear the path from the access point to the installation area. Remove any obstacles such as tree branches, rocks, or debris that may obstruct the delivery process. Ensure there is sufficient space for the delivery truck to maneuver and place the building in the desired location.

4. Level the ground: Ensure the ground where you want to install the storage building is level. Use a level tool to check for any unevenness or slopes. If necessary, you may need to add gravel or compact the ground to create a stable and level surface.

5. Determine the foundation: Decide on the type of foundation suitable for your portable storage building. Options include a concrete slab, gravel pad, or pressure-treated wood runners. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and local building codes to determine the appropriate foundation type and dimensions.

6. Prepare the foundation: If you opt for a concrete slab, hire a professional to pour and cure the concrete before the delivery. For a gravel pad, clear the area, level the ground, and lay down a base of compacted gravel. If using wood runners, ensure they are properly aligned and anchored to provide a stable base for the building.

7. Provide access and clearance: Ensure there is sufficient space for the delivery truck to access your property and the installation area. Remove any obstructions, such as low-hanging branches, fences, or gates that could impede the delivery process. If necessary, communicate with the delivery company to coordinate the logistics and ensure a smooth delivery.

8. Secure permits and utilities: If your portable storage building requires utility connections, such as electricity or plumbing, ensure you have the necessary permits and arrange for the connections in advance. Hire licensed professionals if needed to handle the installations safely and compliantly.

9. Communicate with your rep for delivery: Contact your rep about delivery and inform them of any specific requirements or restrictions. Provide clear directions to your property, including landmarks or any potential challenges they may encounter.

10. Protect surrounding structures: If the delivery route passes by existing structures, take necessary precautions to protect them. Cover windows, remove fragile items, and consider using plywood or other protective materials where appropriate.

By following these steps and communicating effectively with the delivery company, you can ensure a smooth and successful delivery of your storage building. Remember to refer to the specific instructions provided by the manufacturer and consult local regulations and guidelines for any additional requirements.
